Teotihuacán is about an hour outside Mexico City, making it an excellent day trip for visitors who want to explore one of Mesoamerica’s most remarkable ancient cities. Once a thriving metropolis, it is best known for the monumental Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, as well as the grand Avenue of the Dead. Walking through the site offers a glimpse into the engineering, religion, and mystery of a civilization whose influence shaped much of ancient Mexico, while the scale and energy of the pyramids often leave visitors feeling awakened and reflective.
