Richard Branson’s treasure of a property, Son Bunyola, is an under-the-radar boutique hotel located in the region of Banyalbufar in Mallorca. If you haven’t yet heard of it, that might be due to their intentional low-key marketing, which keeps the property’s private and ‘family-owned’ feel for those who stay there.
With only 27 rooms and suites, you’ll be able to enjoy the best of both worlds on the island – nestled between Mallorcan mountains with incomparable views over the sea.
During the day, you’ll be lounging by the picturesque pool, overlooking the property’s own vineyards (yes, they’ll also be serving their own wine from 2025 onwards). Whether you prefer to sunbathe steps from the pool or on their grass-based oasis, it will feel like you’re enjoying summer at your own private home. The rooms are made in a ‘finca-like’ style, with wooden accents and contemporary bathrooms. On the other end of the spectrum, the exterior is playful and vibrant, we dare to say resembling Passalacqua in Lake Como.
The service is exactly what you’d expect at a 5-star resort like this one – speedy, polite and charming. And, if you’re travelling with your four-legged friend, you’ll notice that everyone is extremely pet-friendly.
For some action da time aciton, play a round of beach volleyball on the lower property, or, ask the concierge to drop you at the sea with one of their golf buggy (a quick 10-minute ride). For some nature fun, visit their estate ‘zoo’ with donkeys, horses and chickens.
Before heading off for dinner, have a drink at the upstairs terrace – the sunset is one-of-a-kind.
