Since opening in spring 2026, Kumori Handroll Bar has quickly become one of Soho's most talked-about new tables. Set on Denman Street, the 30-seat handroll bar brings together seriously good Japanese handrolls with a funky, design-led setting, energetic soundtracks and a young, fashion-conscious crowd. Come in the evening when the room really comes alive, with hip-hop and house setting the pace as handrolls are made to order and passed straight across the counter.

The menu goes well beyond the classics, with creative combinations alongside the more traditional offerings, but the burnt salmon handroll is an absolute standout – rich, smoky and finished with a blowtorch right in front of you. We also loved the spicy tuna crispy rice and the miso aubergine handroll. Founder Marc Flekei has spent years developing the concept through pop-ups, including at the Monaco Grand Prix, and the result feels young and playful without compromising on the food.

Séntire’s take: Kumori is the kind of place we'd choose for a fun first date, a pre-night-out dinner or simply when you want really good sushi without the formality. It's social, fast-paced and effortlessly cool – somewhere you go as much for the atmosphere as the handrolls. And if you're sitting at the counter, keep an eye out for Marc himself; he's closely involved in the concept and, frequently makes an appearance.
