Casa Gilardi is one of the final masterpieces of Luis Barragán, known for its unforgettable burst of colours that animate the space with shifting light and shadow. Vivid pink, yellow, and blue walls create a highly emotional, almost surreal atmosphere that reflects Barragán’s poetic approach to architecture. Originally conceived as a private house in Mexico City, the building was designed around an existing jacaranda tree, blending nature and structure. Despite its architectural significance, it still retains the intimacy of a home rather than a formal museum. Today, it is owned and carefully run by a family friend of the architect - most importantly, preserving its personal character.
