Canton Blue at The Peninsula London is the kind of restaurant that makes you feel as though you've stepped into another era – an elegant, old-world China reimagined through the lens of The Peninsula's signature hospitality.
Designed by Hong Kong-based designer Henry Leung of CAP Atelier, the space is layered with intricate Chinese porcelain, rich jewel tones and details inspired by the historic Keying trading junk. The Cantonese cooking is every bit as impressive, with highlights including the impeccable steamed scallop dim sum, crispy oysters and wok-fried king prawns, while the signature Peking duck arrives tableside as a theatrical two-part experience. Don't overlook the small details either – the caramelised nuts served at the beginning are dangerously addictive, and the tea selection is one of the most impressive we've come across in London, with rare loose-leaf varieties and traditional tea ceremonies available.
Séntire’s take: Come here when you want dinner to feel like an occasion. The service is exceptionally attentive, the surroundings are wonderfully immersive and the food genuinely lives up to the setting. And if you find yourself becoming slightly obsessed with those caramelised nuts, don't be shy about asking – the team may just have a little something set aside for you to take home.
