Bambi feels like a snapshot of the new East London dining scene – where good food, natural wine, low lighting and a very good soundtrack come together under one roof. There is something distinctly Berlin-meets-West-Village-about-it, but filtered through London: cool without trying too hard, with a neighbourhood feel that still attracts a very fashionable crowd.
The menu takes inspiration from across the Mediterranean, while the room shifts from restaurant to party as the evening progresses, with DJs playing throughout dinner and the tables cleared for dancing from 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Séntire’s take: Bambi is made for date night or a girls' night out – but go late. Book a Friday or Saturday dinner and take one of the later seatings, so you can stay on as the room transforms into a dance floor. East London did this vibe first – and Bambi still feels like one of the clearest examples of this.
